HELP SOUGHT TO REPAIR VANDALISM AT LA MESA’S HISTORIC DEPOT
By Miriam Raftery
September 12, 2018 (La Mesa) — Vandals have damaged the La Mesa Depot and locomotive. Built in 1894, the depot is California’ oldest building in its original form, La Mesa Today reports. A meeting is planned on September 25th at the depot at the corner of Spring Street and La Mesa Boulevard to learn about efforts to raise funds to restore the depot, the last remaining station from the San Diego and Cuyamaca Railway.
The depot is run by the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum. President Diana Hyatt and donna Spevack, administrator of fund development, will be on hand at the 8 a.m. coffee and meet and greet. You’re invited to come learn about programs, volunteer opportunities, fundraising to restore the depot and more.
