October 20, 2018 (El Cajon) — Cajon Valley Union School District was recently featured in an article in Forbes, The World of Work - In Elementary School, highlighting the El Cajon district’s World of Work program by Tom Vander Ark of Getting Smart.
Nearly three-quarters of the district’s students live at or below the poverty level. So Superintendent David Miyashiro hired Qualcomm executive Ed Hidalgo to come up with a program to introduce students to high-skilled, good-paying career opportunities. The program introduces children in grades K-8 to 54 career paths.
“This is a big moment for our district and East County and we are excited to share with all our partners! Mr. Vander Ark and his team recently toured our schools,” says Naomie Rodrigues, executive coordinator for the superintendent’s office.
