COUNTY SEEKS PUBLIC INPUT ON FUTURE PARKS, SERVICES
Parks and Recreation to Hold Community Meetings to Hear What Residents Want
June 28, 2010 (San Diego) -- The County of San Diego’s Department of Parks and Recreation plans to hold community meetings starting this week in Lakeside, Fallbrook, Pine Valley, Ramona and San Diego to hear from residents about what kind of county parks they want.
The County, which operates 61 parks, five community centers, two teen centers and 326 miles of trails, has hired a consultant, GreenPlay LLC, to do a study to determine what Park and Recreation services will be offered in unincorporated communities and what types of fees could support them.
Getting community input is essential, said County Parks and Recreation Director Brian Albright.
“Our residents’ thoughts and opinions are very important to us,” Albright said. “They know their communities better than anyone and we want to make sure they get the chance to tell us what kinds of parks they want as we move forward.”
