September 3, 2023 (San Diego's East County) -- The maximum amounts for which you can be eligible for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) in California will increase starting October 1st, 2023 1 2.

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced that the average monthly SNAP benefit will increase by $36 per person from pre-pandemic levels, or $1.19 per day 3. The increase is permanent 4.
