BRITISH SHOP IN LA MESA PREPARES TO FETE ROYAL WEDDING DAY AT GRAND REOPENING CELEBRATION
April 28, 2011 (La Mesa) – At All Things Bright and British, a La Mesa shop specializing in British goods from scones to fine china, new owner Bill Jaynes invites the public to a week-long “Changing of the Guard” celebration. Festivities begin on Friday, April 29—just in time for the royal wedding of Prince William of Wales and his bride, Catherine Middleton.
“Watch the royal wedding with us—and bring a chair,” said Jaynes, who has taken command of the business from his parents, making this a double celebration. A piper band will perform Friday morning, followed by an Elton John tribute band from 2-6 p.m. Traditional English food, prizes and free gifts are all part of the fanfare.
“We’ve got our entire store getting ready for the wedding,” Jaynes said at a La Mesa Chamber of Commerce breakfast this morning, adding that staff will be making preparations through the night.
Jaynes said he has made major changes at the store, which will cap off a week of celebration with a ribbon cutting on Wednesday, May 4th from 5:30-7 p.m.
The revamped store will feature an array of organic, free trade and vegetarian items as well as such staple British fare as tea, scone, jams, a new line of pasties( meat-stuffed pastry shells), imported chocolates, and more treats from the British Isles.
