MAYORAL DEBATE & “IDEA TOURNAMENT” SEPT. 17 AT POLITIFEST

August 21, 2011 (San Diego) – Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas debated at county fairs and festivals. Outdoors and free to the public, Politifest 2011 recaptures that spirit. The event, set for Saturday September 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p..m. at Liberty Station in Pt. Loma, will include a mayoral debate, idea tournament, beer garden, civic booths, media celebrities and old-fashioned outdoor fun.
“Political discussions have lately become toxic. Let's reclaim them because politics will shape our future. Come celebrate civic involvement and constructive debate in a new festival,” states a press release issued by media sponsors Voice of San Diego and NBC 7 San Diego.
Candidates Bob Filner and Nathan Fletcher have confirmed thus far; Councilmember Carl DeMaio and District Attorney Bonne Dumanis have also been invited.
Enjoy food, drink, and fresh air at Ingram Plaza, which is located between Historic Decatur and Cushing roads in Liberty Station in Point Loma (map). The event is free and runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The mayoral debate will be at 10:30 a.m.
