WORKING FAMILIES SUMMIT SEPT. 24: DOES ESCONDIDO ‘WORK’ FOR WORKING FAMILIES?

September 13, 2011 (Escondido) -- What are the needs of working families in the Escondido area? Are those needs being met by schools, the city, and other governmental units?
A panel of couples will discuss everyday joys and challenges of living in Escondido, while experts and community leaders respond at a “Working Families Summit” co-sponsored by California Nurses Association and the Escondido Democratic Club from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 24 at the Escondido Public Library, 239 S. Kalmia St.
CNA will hold breakout sessions on “The Main Street Contract for America” that will feature Geri Jenkins, RN, past president of CNA. The sessions will discuss public health care trends affecting local hospitals--and what constituents can do to hold publicly elected hospital boards accountable for safe patient care and good health care jobs for families in local communities.
More information on The Main Street Contract for America is available at www.mainstreetcontract.org.
Registration is free (and begins at 1:30 p.m.) and open to everyone. Refreshments will be available. A drawing for free pizza vouchers for five lucky attendees will occur at the conclusion of the event. Children are welcome.
