LEMON GROVE DEPUTIES TALK SUICIDAL MAN INTO SURRENDERING
March 2, 2012 (Lemon Grove) -- Sheriffs from the Lemon Grove Substation responded to a call yesterday afternoon from a woman in the 7900 block of Mt. Vernon Street. The caller told the dispatcher that her son had a gun and was threatening to hurt himself. After making the call, the woman left the house with her adult daughter.
Deputies responded and set up a perimeter. They were able to talk to the 29-year-old man on the phone. It was determined no crime had been committed. As deputies were preparing to leave the scene, a deputy saw the man outside the house holding a hand gun. As deputies approached him, he went back inside

Deputies re-established their perimeter. They got him on the phone again. He mentioned having relationship and employment issues. After some talking, he surrendered peacefully at 4:15 p.m. The man was taken into custody for a mental health evaluation.
