HIGH-SPEED CHASE ENDS WITH CRASH NEAR ANTHONY'S RESTAURANT

March 20, 2012 (La Mesa)—Two men are in custody following a high-speed pursuit that began at 5:32 this evening when the driver of a vehicle stolen in El Cajon attempted to elude a police officer near Fletcher Parkway and Nagel Drive.
The officer, with assistance of El Cajon Police, San Diego Sheriff and the ASTREA helicopter, pursued the vehicle through residential streets in La Mesa and El Cajon, then onto Interstate-8.
The driver entered I-8 westbound from El Cajon with two flat tires that possibly occurred by hitting a curb. He reached speeds of up to mph on Interstate 8 and made an abrupt turn off the freeway, prior to the Severin Drive exit. The vehicle collided with a wall on Murray Drive just south of Anthony’s Fish Grotto.
Both driver and passenger fled the vehicle on foot. According to La Mesa Police, the driver had to be subdued by a Taser near the vehicle and the passenger was arrested in the parking lot of the restaurant. The driver was treated at Alvarado hospital for the Taser deployment.
Both suspects were booked at San Diego County Jail on the following charges:
Everette BORHA, 03-17-84- 496d PC- Possession of a stolen vehicle, 2800.1 CVC- Felony evading in a vehicle and 148 PC- Resisting arrest.
Hector RAMOS, 09-23-73- 496d PC- Possession of a stolen vehicle and 148 PC- Resisting arrest.
