April 13, 2016 (Philadelphia) - I know why the MLB gave the Padres four games in Philly: so they could see the entire city. There’s a lot of landmarks there, you know; Independence Hall, historic Philly, Ryan Buchter and Cory Spangenberg's hometown team...
Anyway, back to the game. Colin Rea started for the Padres and Jerad Eickhoff started for Philly. Speaking of independence, the Phillies declared theirs right away in the city where independence was declared from England with Maikel Franco’s solo blast in the first inning. The Phillies led 1-0.
Franco struck again in the third with a well-hit double that drove home Odubel Herrera to make the score 2-0 Phillies.
The Padres rallied a little bit in the ninth with Brett Wallace’s single that scored Derek Norris, but the Phillies would take game three 2-1. They now lead the series 2-1. Game four is tomorrow.
