I don't understand the fighting in the comments about black versus white. I believe it is news because he is so obviously gifted and worked hard to graduate and be accepted into pretty much any school he wanted. I think they do segments on these kinds of things on every morning show. Did you people hear him play that piano? Wowzers! I would rather read these kinds of stories than another one about Bieber or Miley. I'm of the baby boomer generation and some of us went to college and some of us didn't. It wasn't as necessary as it is now. Congrats to Desmond, I hope you do well at Yale.
I gather this is a member of the race which yahoo prohibits mentioning.
Economics and Music! I hear you...doing the same thing myself. Best of luck and congratulations!
At ~$50-100 per application how did he even afford all the application. I had 2 pick only two when I applied simply because we couldn't afford to spend like $700 just to apply.
And when he comes out, he'll be just another overeducated kid who can't find a job and a Left Wing Liberal nut job - Blame America First weirdo. Probably will become a Community Organizer and end up as a part time instructor in some Liberal college teaching how to apply for SSDI.
Congratulations to you Desmond Amuh and a special congratulations to your parents and grandparents for raising such a fine young man.
I hope he's ready for the shock of his life when he finds out his scholarship is taxable, plus he'll be paying several thousands of dollars each year for books and other miscellaneous fees the scholarships don't cover anything of.
Congrats Desmond! Continue with that work ethic and you will accomplish your dreams, no doubt. Perhaps your parents could give the rest of us some pointers on how to raise such an amazing young person.
This is a human interest story. That's why it's in the news. Seeing some girl in the news because she couldn't wear her short shorts to school isn't ground breaking either. Congratulations Desmond!
Congratulations to Desmond. He appears to be a very well spoken, well rounded, deserving young man.
