Enjoy a summer evening garden tour. Go Green- and bring your own glass to fill with wine and maybe even succulents! Docent Kathryn Clayton shares some of her favorite gardening and design tips with succulents.

CAMP BOW WOW ANNOUNCES “YAPPY HOUR” SEASON AT DOWNTOWN CAFE

June 30, 2015 (El Cajon)--Camp Bow Wow and Behavior Buddies of El Cajon will host their 5th Annual Yappy Hour season at the Downtown Café in El Cajon. The Yappy Hour is held every third Thursday of the month from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. The event includes “puptinis” for pups, a happy hour menu and more.

 In addition to a fun social event, each Yappy Hour is dedicated to raising money for a local charity, with this year’s proceeds benefitting Labs and More Dog Rescue.

Through sales of opportunity drawing tickets, participants will be entered to win many fabulous opportunity-drawing prizes. The pups will enjoy free Puptini’s while owners can order off of the Downtown Café’s delicious Happy Hour Menu.

August 21, 2014 (El Cajon)--Renovated from the ground up, this wonderful park is located in downtown El Cajon at Main St. & Sulzfeld and features plenty of seating - from benches to grassy areas - for a break from the hustle of life. Shade trees, such as the blue flowering Jacaranda, give relief from the hot sun while street noise fades into the background. Sit quietly long enough, and you may see a variety of birds, including ducks from the waterscape across the street, ravens, hummingbirds and an occasional hawk.

RADICAL REPTILES AND FRIENDS SLITHER INTO CREST LIBRARY JUNE 10

 

June 5, 2014 (Crest) – Radical Reptiles & Friends will be bringing a menagerie to the Crest branch of the County library system on Tuesday, June 10 at 6 p.m.

Founded in 1996 by Ben Hian, Radical Reptiles & Friends has provided animal education and entertainment in San Diego County for nearly 14 years.  Joining Hian in 2007, John Taibe has helped Radical Reptiles & Friends  provide the children of San Diego County with a unique, hands-on experience including an ever-growing menagerie of snakes, lizards, turtles, tortoises, frogs, spiders scorpions , millipedes, insects & a variety of other “creepy crawlies.”

June 5, 2013 (El Cajon) -- Aspire Martial Arts in Rancho San Diego will host a free Martial Arts fitness class for the entire community on Saturday June 15th from 2:00-4:00 p.m.

Aspire Martial Arts will offer these along with bully prevention seminars every 8-9 weeks. The seminars are part of the ATA Martial Arts’ worldwide initiative to help stop childhood obesity and bullying through education.

May 28, 2013 (El Cajon)--Every Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m., Downtown El Cajon Business Partners hosts a classic car show. Each week  the theme changes, from last Wednesday’s “Topless Night” where all of the best convertibles could be seen on the Promenade, to this week's Salute to the Military. 

Other upcoming events include Charger Steve's Starz Carz, Return of the Horseless Carriage, and Thunder on Main Street for the season finale at summer's end, featuring a full street closure.

SAN DIEGO SADDLERY HOSTS TACK SALE TO BENEFIT SAVING HORSES RESCUE MARCH 23

On March 23rd from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. San Diego Saddlery will be hosting a tack sale to benefit the nonprofit Saving Horses Rescue. They will be selling both new and used items and will be using the storefront next to the Saddlery.  The public is encouraged to stop by to support the rescue  and find some great deals. 

If you'd like to donate any new or gently used tack for the sale, just bring it by the San Diego Saddlery shop in El Cajon any time before the 23rd.  Donations are tax deductible.

February 6, 2011 (San Diego) -- The second annual San Diego County Library Acoustic Showcase series starts this month. With a total of 30 concerts taking place at twelve libraries across the county from February to June, the Acoustic Showcase series offers a variety of some of San Diego's best singer/songwriters, folk music performers and story tellers. These concerts are free to the community.
