TEEN RAPED IN ESCONDIDO

 

July 9, 2010 (Escondido) – Escondido Police seek the public’s help to find a man suspected of raping a 16-year-old girl. The suspect reportedly attacked the teen at gunpoint and raped her shortly before 8:30 this morning on the flood control bike path near North Beech Street and East Valley Parkway.

June 28, 2010 (Escondido) - San Diego Sheriff’s Department has issued details on the freak injury of a nine-year-old boy in Escondido. On Thursday, a Sheriff’s deputy, along with Escondido Police, responded to a call on San Pasqual Road in the unincorporated portion of Escondido. “

 

"The deputy learned that the nine year old, who had been shot with the arrow, had previously told his brother to shoot an arrow at him so he could catch it. He missed catching the arrow and was subsequently struck in the head, right above the eye,” a Sheriff’s media release stated.

BRUSH FIRE IN ESCONDIDO STARTED BY WEED WHACKER

 

Update 5:15 p.m.: Cal-Fire confirms this fire was started by a weed whacker with a metal blade. Residents are reminded not to trim brush after 10 a.m. and avoid metal blades, where possible.

Update 4 p.m.:  This fire has been contained at three acres.  
 

June 25, 2010 (Escondido) A brush fire at Harmony Grove and Country Club in Escondido is threatening a mobile home and has potential to reach five acres, Incident Page Network reports. The blaze is currently a half acre burning in light flashy fuel and spreading at a moderate rate.

PEDESTRIAN KILLED IN ESCONDIDO

May 23, 2010 (Escondido) -- Wesley Askins III, 29, was walking across Center City Parkway near Brotherton Road in Escondido with friends Friday night when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle. 

Paramedics confirmed death at the scene, the County Medical Examiner reports.  Askins, who was single, resided in San Diego.

3 INJURED IN CRASH NORTH OF ESCONDIDO

 

 

March 22, 2010 (Escondido) – At 9:05 a.m., CAL FIRE-Deer Springs Fire Department responded to a report of an accident on I-15 at North Centre City Parkway, just north of Escondido. When firefighters arrived they encountered a passenger vehicle on it roof and two of the three occupants in the vehicle required extrication. The vehicle was traveling north bound on I-15 when it rear-ended another vehicle.

BODY OF AMBER DUBOIS FOUND IN PALA AREA

 

 

March 7, 2010 (Escondido) – The county medical examiner’s office has used dental records to positively identify remains found Saturday as those of Amber Dubois, the 14-year-old teenage girl who went missing while walking to Escondido High School on February 13, 2009.   Her disappearance resulted in a massive search over more than a year and made headlines nationally.

ESCONDIDO STREET FAIRE OFFERS FAMILY FUN ON SUNDAY, MAY 17

May 16, 2009 (Escondido) – Over 700 booths, live entertainment, a farmers’ market, international foods plus arts and crafts displays will be featured at the Escondido Street Faire this Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The event, sponsored by the Escondido Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Business Association, claims to be the second largest street fair in California with fun for the whole family. The faire is held on Grand Avenue between Centre City and Ivy.

If you miss the fun, don't worry--a second Escondido Street Faire will be held in October.
