May 14, 2016 (Milwaukee) - After a fluke game last night, the Padres looked to rebound with Luis Perdomo making his first major league start against Wily Peralta for the Brewers.
The Pads got started right away. Matt Kemp singled in the first to score Travis Jankowski and San Diego took a 1-0 lead. Melvin Upton Jr. doubled and scored Kemp and the Friars went up 2-0.
But the Brewers came back. Kirk Nieuwenhuis doubled and scored two in the Brewers’ half of the first and the game was tied at two.
In the third, Kemp doubled and scored Wil Myers and the Padres reclaimed the lead, 3-2. Alexei Ramirez singled and Kemp scored and the Padres went up 4-2.
Myers and Kemp hit solo homers in the fifth and the Padres went up 6-2.
In the seventh, Nieuwenhuis doubled and scored Domingo Santana to cut the Padres’ lead to 6-3. Chris Carter hit a sacrifice fly to score him and the Padres stayed ahead 6-4.
The Brewers tied the game at six, so we got bonus baseball. Nothing happened until the 12th when Derek Norris hit a solo homer for the Padres to take a 7-6 lead. Upton Jr. Also homered and the Padres went up 8-6.
Jonathan Lucroy would homer in the Brewers’ half of the 12th, but the Padres would hang on to win 8-7. The final game of the series is tomorrow at 11:10 a.m.
In transaction news, the Padres recalled Leonel Campos from El Paso and optioned Alex Dickerson back down.
