September 19, 2017 (San Diego) - The Padres are mathematically eliminated from playoff contention, which means they can act like 10-year-old Little Leaguers and have fun playing baseball.  Overly paranoid baseball moms everywhere can relax.  That’s probably why they’re winning more, by the way, as they won 4-2 last night over the Diamondbacks.  Zack Godley started tonight’s game two for the Dbacks against Travis Wood.

September 18, 2017 (San Diego) - Avoiding a sweep even though you’ve had a terrible series is like a backhanded gratifying feeling, like someone giving you a golf clap.  The Padres came home to golf claps as they prepared for a three-game series with the Diamondbacks.  Patrick Corbin started tonight’s game one for the Diamondbacks against Luis Perdomo.

September 16, 2017 (Denver) - We know it’s September and the Padres have zero shot of catching the Rockies or any of the other teams ahead of them in the NL West, but they could at least make some effort and finish the season strong. They’d try tonight with Jordan Lyles on the mound against Denver native Kyle Freeland for the Rockies.

September 15, 2017 (Denver) - “No more American League vacations for a while,” the Padres decided as they traveled to Denver and back to NL West play and a weekend series with the Rockies.  Clayton Richard started tonight’s game one against Tyler Chatwood for the Rockies.

September 13, 2017 (Minneapolis) - How many times this season have we began a game recap with “last night was a night the Padres would like to forget” or some variation?  Better question:  how many times over the past couple of seasons have we began a game recap with that?  Because we’re doing it again.  Last night was a night the Padres would like to forget.  Luckily, they could avoid a two-game sweep tonight with Dinelson Lamet on the mound against Ervin Santana.

September 12, 2017 (Minneapolis) - After not getting the sweep of the Dbacks on Sunday, the Padres decided that they’d had enough of the National League and took a vacation to Minnesota to face the Twins for two games.  Travis Wood started tonight’s game one against Kyle Gibson for the Twins.

September 10, 2017 (Phoenix) - If the Padres were teenage boys, last night, they’d have bought tons of alcohol and partied and they’d have earned it after their ninth inning rally that helped them topped the snakes 8-7 and win the series regardless of what happened today.  A sweep would be pretty nice, though, and the Padres went for it today with Luis Perdomo on the mound against Robbie Ray for the Dbacks.

September 8, 2017 (Phoenix) - Narrowly avoiding a sweep was too stressful for the Padres, so they decided to take a trip to Arizona for the weekend to play the second place Diamondbacks.  Great idea!  Jordan Lyles started tonight’s game one against Patrick Corbin for the Dbacks.

September 3, 2017 (San Diego) - You know those pop songs that talk about what a great day it is?  Like #PerfectDay that’s on The Nut Job 2 credits?  That was probably what the Padres were singing yesterday as they swept the Dodgers in a day-night doubleheader and took a 2-1 series lead.  Now it was time to take the series today with Alex Wood on the mound for the Dodgers against Jhoulys Chacin.

September 2, 2017 (San Diego) - Last night, the pitching by Clayton Kershaw and Dinelson Lamet was strong.  The Padres still suffered a 1-0 loss, but they have a lot to be proud of in young talent.  Today in game one of a Saturday doubleheader, another young talent took the mound, but this time, he was on the Dodgers.  His name was Brock Stewart and he faced a veteran, Clayton Richard.

September 1, 2017 (San Diego) - The Padres are probably excited it’s September because it won’t be long till the offseason, but Clayton Kershaw dropped into Petco Park tonight to kill the vibe, along with the rest of the Dodgers. Dinelson Lamet took the hill for the Padres against him.

August 30, 2017 (San Diego) - We probably won’t see a night like last night again, for it’s rarer than the solar eclipse. The Padres were spectacular both offensively and defensively in their series-evening win against the Giants.  Tonight they could take the series with Ty Blach on the mound for the Giants against Travis Wood.

August 28, 2017 (San Diego) - After an embarrassing sweep by the Marlins in a series the Padres should have won, they came back home to face the equally dismal Giants in a series they should definitely win.  Jeff Samardzija started for the Giants against Jhoulys Chacin in tonight’s game one.
