July 16, 2017 (San Diego) - Hector Sanchez was the hero last night with his two-run walk off home run in the ninth against the Giants to give the Padres a 5-3 win. They had the opportunity to take the series tonight with Jeff Samardzija on the mound for San Francisco against Trevor Cahill.
Apparently fueled from their walk off win last night, the Padres struck first, early and hard. Hector Sanchez, who hit the two-run walk off homer last night, blasted a three-run bomb in the first. Erick Aybar followed that up with a double that scored Cory Spangenberg and the Padres led 4-0.
The Giants got on the board in the second with Brandon Crawford’s RBI double that scored Buster Posey and made the score 4-1.
Spangenberg hit a three-run blast of his own in the third and the Padres took game three by a landslide, 7-1 and the series two games to one.
The Padres travel to Denver tomorrow night for a 5:40 p.m. start in game one of a three-game series against the Rockies. Luis Perdomo starts against German Marquez for the Rockies.
