LA MESA MAN KILLED IN CRASH ON I-8 IN BOULEVARD

September 27, 2018 (Boulevard) – A 31-year-old La Mesa man died after his vehicle struck a metal guard rail on I-8 east near McCain Valley in Boulevard last night at 11:40 p.m.  He was ejected onto the roadway and died at the scene.

The vehicle came to rest blocking eastbound lanes, temporarily shutting down lanes and diverting traffic onto Old Highway 80.

A toxicology test is being conduced by the medical examiner to determine whether the driver was under the influence. According to Officer Travis Garrow with the California Highway Patrol, there is “evidence alcohol may have been a factor.”
