FBI SEEKS EX-SAN DIEGAN INDICTED FOR ALLEGED TERRORISM TIES
August 5, 2010 (San Diego) – The FBI seeks 14 individuals, including a former San Diego man indicted this morning by the U.S. Department of Justice for aiding the foreign terrorist organization al-Shabaab.
Here in the Southern District of California, the U.S. Attorney's Office unsealed an October 2009 indictment against Jehad Serwan Mostafa, age 28, also known as "Ahmed," "Emir Anwar," and "Awar," a U.S. citizen and former resident of San Diego. (photos: left and right)
The indictment alleges that Mostafa conspired to provide material support, including himself as personnel, to terrorists; conspired to provide material support to al-Shabaab; and provided material support to al-Shabaab. Mostafa faces a potential 15 years in prison for each of the three counts of the indictment. He is not in custody and believed to be in Somalia.
Mostafa’s was among four separate indictments unsealed today by the U.S. Department of Justice in the District of Minnesota, the Southern District of Alabama and the Southern District of California .
