ECM PADRES REPORT: PADRES AND MARINERS DRAW AT HOME

March 26, 2023 (Peoria, Ariz.) - Today, the Padres hosted the Mariners in the stadium that both teams share. Logan Gilbert started for Seattle against Michael Wacha.
The two teams played leap frog today. Teoscar Hernandez singled in the first to score Julio Rodriguez and the Mariners led 1-0 after one.
Trent Grisham saved the day with a two-run homer in the third and the Padres led 2-1 after three.
Hernandez tied the game in the fifth with a sac fly that scored Delino DeShields. Cal Raleigh hit another sac fly that scored Leonardo Rivas. Eugenio Suarez singled to score Cooper Hummel, but Grisham saved the day again with another two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth and we were tied at four after five.
Taylor Kohlwey gave the Padres the go-ahead with a single in the sixth when he scored on a single from Grisham, but Gabriel Gonzalez doubled to center in the seventh to score Hummel and the Padres and Mariners settled for a draw, 5-5.
UP NEXT
Tomorrow, in the final game before Opening Day, the Padres and Mariners switch sides so that the Padres are away and the Mariners are home. First pitch is at 12:10 p.m. and will only be available to listen to on MLB.com. Seth Lugo starts.
