September 27, 2017 (Los Angeles) - At this point, we at ECM wouldn’t want to try anymore, either.  The season finale with the Dodgers was tonight and the Padres were probably on their knees kissing the ground they walk on.  Clayton Richard started against Rich Hill for LA.

September 26, 2017 (Los Angeles) - Senioritis is in full swing for the Padres.  They’re perfectly content losing all of their games these last two weeks. In fact, they lost 9-3 to the Dodgers last night. But what is baseball without fun? They’d try again tonight with Dinelson Lamet on the mound against Alex Wood for the Dodgers.

September 22, 2017 (San Diego) - Another “we wish the Padres would have ____” sentence starter for your next party:  we wish the Padres would have had easy victories like they did last night all season.  But we can’t change the past, no matter how much Jay Gatsby thinks you can.  The Padres would try for another easy win tonight against Jon Gray for the Rockies.  He’d be facing Jordan Lyles.

September 22, 2017 (San Diego) - The Padres didn’t get the sweep in their last series of the season against the Dbacks, but they did take the series two games to one.  Now it was time to get the Rockies out of the way, at least until next March.  Tyler Anderson started tonight’s game one for Colorado against Clayton Richard.

September 19, 2017 (San Diego) - The Padres are mathematically eliminated from playoff contention, which means they can act like 10-year-old Little Leaguers and have fun playing baseball.  Overly paranoid baseball moms everywhere can relax.  That’s probably why they’re winning more, by the way, as they won 4-2 last night over the Diamondbacks.  Zack Godley started tonight’s game two for the Dbacks against Travis Wood.

September 16, 2017 (Denver) - We know it’s September and the Padres have zero shot of catching the Rockies or any of the other teams ahead of them in the NL West, but they could at least make some effort and finish the season strong. They’d try tonight with Jordan Lyles on the mound against Denver native Kyle Freeland for the Rockies.

September 13, 2017 (Minneapolis) - How many times this season have we began a game recap with “last night was a night the Padres would like to forget” or some variation?  Better question:  how many times over the past couple of seasons have we began a game recap with that?  Because we’re doing it again.  Last night was a night the Padres would like to forget.  Luckily, they could avoid a two-game sweep tonight with Dinelson Lamet on the mound against Ervin Santana.

September 10, 2017 (Phoenix) - If the Padres were teenage boys, last night, they’d have bought tons of alcohol and partied and they’d have earned it after their ninth inning rally that helped them topped the snakes 8-7 and win the series regardless of what happened today.  A sweep would be pretty nice, though, and the Padres went for it today with Luis Perdomo on the mound against Robbie Ray for the Dbacks.

September 2, 2017 (San Diego) - Last night, the pitching by Clayton Kershaw and Dinelson Lamet was strong.  The Padres still suffered a 1-0 loss, but they have a lot to be proud of in young talent.  Today in game one of a Saturday doubleheader, another young talent took the mound, but this time, he was on the Dodgers.  His name was Brock Stewart and he faced a veteran, Clayton Richard.

The Padres were spectacular both offensively and defensively in their series-evening win against the Giants.  Tonight they could take the series with Ty Blach on the mound for the Giants against Travis Wood.
