June 7, 2019 (San Diego) - The Padres eeked out a game one win last night against the Nationals 5-4.  They went for a two-game series lead tonight in game two with Erick Fedde on the mound for Washington against Nick Margevicius.

June 5, 2019 (San Diego) - The Padres have split two games against the Phillies, winning on Monday night and losing last night. Today was the rubber match, with Jake Arrieta on the mound for Philly against Cal Quantrill.

June 5, 2019 (Secaucus, N.J.) - The Padres took seven consecutive pitchers yesterday on day two.  One East County kid was drafted. June 1, 2019 (San Diego) - The second-place Padres opened June by welcoming two NL East opponents to Petco Park, starting with the Marlins, whom they won 5-2 against last night.  Jose Ureña started game two tonight for the Marlins against Nick Margevicius.

May 20, 2019 (San Diego's East County) - Alumni of East County high schools are finding their marks in the major leagues and in college baseball this week.

Two former East County alums made waves for the Padres.  Valhalla Norseman alum Greg Garcia went 1 for 3 with a double and one run scored for the Padres as they were defeated by the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-4 on Sunday. 

Former Grossmont Foothiller Joe Musgrove improved his record to 3-4 as he pitched 6.1 innings and gave up four hits, four runs (three earned), one walk and four strikeouts for the Bucs.

May 12, 2019 (Denver) - The Padres have split the series with Colorado so far, losing badly Friday night, but picking up a win last night.  They played the series finale on Mother’s Day with Nick Margevicius on the mound against Antonio Senzatela for the Rockies.

May 2, 2019 (Atlanta) - Don’t look now, but the Padres are in second place in the NL West and Manny Machado has almost nothing to do with it.  His presence may be helping, but his bat has been quiet; the other bats have been stepping up to the plate. But Machado had a much bigger role today, as the Padres tried to split the series with the Braves.  Matt Strahm started against Mike Foltynewicz for the Braves.

July 19, 2018 (San Diego) - Padres relievers Brad Hand and Adam Cimber have been dealt to the Cleveland Indians, Ken Rosenthal and Robert Murray of The Athletic report.

"Brad Hand to #Indians, sources tell me and @ByRobertMurray," Rosenthal tweeted just this morning.

The trade is crucial for the Indians, who, even though they sit atop the AL Central, have needed bullpen help all season long.

In return, the Padres will receive the Indians' no. 15 catching prospect, Francisco Mejia.

Hand signed with Cleveland for $6.5 million and $7 million the next two years, with a $10 million club option for 2021.
