ECM PADRES REPORT: CUBS DROP PADRES IN GAME ONE

June 2, 2023 (San Diego) - The Padres are finally home and hosting the Cubs for the weekend. Jameson Taillon started game one for Chicago against Michael Wacha.
Nico Hoerner scored in the third and Dansby Swanson launched a solo homer to left in the fifth and the Cubs led 2-0 after five.
The Padres got on the board finally in the sixth when Xander Bogaerts hit a slow roller to third to score Rougned Odor from third. The Cubs held onto their lead and won 2-1 to kick off the series.
UP NEXT
Game two tomorrow is at 7:10 p.m. and will be another free game of the day. Drew Smyly starts for Chicago against Yu Darvish.
