“WINE AND SWINE” FEAST SEPT. 28 TO BENEFIT JULIAN FFA

East County wineries and local produce to be served up at Jeremy’s on the Hill

September 23, 2010 (Julian)-- What better way to support your local Future Farmers of America (FFA) then to wine and dine and enjoy our local back country offerings? Four local back country wineries will be showcased including Menghini Winery, Shadow Mountain Winery, Orfila Vineyards and La Serenissima Vineyards at a special five-course wine pairing event featuring farmers market vegetables.

 

The “wine and swine” event will take place on Tuesday, September 28 at 7:00 p.m. at Jeremy’s on the Hill California-style Bistro, 4354 Highway 78 in Wynola (just outside of Julian).

Tickets cost $60 per person and reservations are required and may be made by calling 760-765-1587.
 

Chef Jeremy Manley at Jeremy’s on the Hill spent four years in Julian FFA and is a proud supporter. “Dale Fullerton, Julian High School’s Agriculture teacher, taught me how to important it is to support our local farmers and be part of the circle that feeds our community every day, which helped influence my passion for utilizing fresh, seasonal, local produce every day of the year,” Manley said.

First Course

Butter Nut Squash Soup and Goat Cheese Ravioli with Pulled Pork and Truffled Cream Cheese Sauce paired with La Serenissima Arneis

Second Course
Cranberry and Walnut Stuffed Pork Roulade with Indian Harvest Rice and Sage Brown Butter Sauce paired with Shadow Mountain Dry Muscat

Third Course
White Corn Soup with Ham Hocks, Crème Fraiche and Chive Oil paired with Menghini Chardonnay

Fourth Course
Poached Egg Salad with Bacon Lardons, Fingerling Potatoes and Bacon Vinaigrette with Whole Grain Mustard Quinnell paired with Orfilla Chardonnay

Fifth Course
Peach Apple Cobbler with Carmel Sauce and French Vanilla Ice Cream paired with Orfilla Sparkling Moscato Bianco

“With lack of funding, we will lose this important educational component of our community,” said Chef Jeremy. “We are hoping you will be able to join us and support your local FFA chapter while enjoying fabulous food and wine from our back country hidden treasures.”
