2 ARRESTS MADE IN SHOOTING OF TEEN IN LA MESA

July 1, 2011 (La Mesa) – Two alleged gang members have been arrested and charged with attempted murder of a 16-year-old boy who was shot in the head while riding his skateboard in La Mesa. The youth, who was from Arizona, was robbed and shot around 1:49 a.m. on June 27 outside a motel where he was staying with his family.

The suspects have been identified as Alvaro Regalado, 19, and Juan Arriero, 20. On June 28, members of the East County Gang Task Force arrested Regalado at his residence in San Diego. On June 29 members of the San Diego Gang Suppression Team arrested Arriero near his residence in San Diego.

Regalado was booked into San Diego County Jail on the following charges:

• 664/187 PC – Attempted Murder
• 211 PC - Robbery
• 12025(b)(3) PC – Gang Member w/ a Firearm
• 12021(d)(1) PC – Probationer w/ Firearm
• 12034 PC – Discharging a Firearm from a Vehicle
• 186.22 PC – Participating in a Criminal Street Gang

Arriero was booked into San Diego County Jail on the following charges:

• 664/187 PC – Attempted Murder
• 422 PC – Criminal Threats
• 12025(b)(3) PC – Gang Member w/ a Firearm
• 12025(a)(1) PC – Possession of a Firearm in a Vehicle
186.22(a) PC – Participation in a Criminal Street Gang
