September 1, 2014 (San Diego) - Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez (D-San Diego)--has four measure that she authored now on the Governor’s desk awaiting signature. The measures address medical and education issues, rights of homeowners, and protection for peace officers injured in the line of duty.

AB 2051 would expand healthcare access in low-income communities by speeding up the process for primary health care clinics to serve Medi-Cal patients. This measure passed the Assembly unanimously, said Gonzalez, who adds that 40 percent of patients at community clinics in her district are on Medi-Cal.

AB 2104 would prevent homeowners’ associations from fining homeowners who replace their lawns with drought –resistant landscaping.

AB 1431 would ban school and college district superintendents and administrators from raising cash for the board members that hire them. The measure aims to prevent conflicts of interest and corruption problems similar to those raised in the Sweetwater Union school district.

AB 2052 would assure that all peace officers receive workers’ compensation health protections if they are injured in the line of duty.
