February 2, 2014 (San Diego County) - "An American Family:  The Art of Kathleen Strzelecki" will be held over through February in the Lemon Grove Library, 3001 School Lane, at the direction of Amanda Heller, head librarian of the library.  Increased foot traffic for the exhibit, a rave review in the East County Californian, and attention from art educators have made the solo show one of the most successful of the current season.

Sponsored by the Lemon Grove Historical Society, the 2013-14 season of library art exhibitions has also included historical photographs of Lemon Grove, "The Art of Lemon Grove 1984 - 2013", and "New Landscapes and Illustrations:  The Art of E. Roxburgh".  Each exhibit is accompanied by an "Art Talk" with the featured artist and, in the case of Roxburgh, a book roll-out greeted by a capacity crowd.

Emotional power, psychological intensity and elegaic portraits of children are features of Strzelecki's dramatic series of large scale works that speak directly to the viewer.
