If you want to be sure to take home a new furry friend the same day you meet, here’s a deal for you. County Animal Services is waiving fees on all dogs, cats and rabbits that have already been spayed or neutered.

The adoption special begins Wednesday, Nov. 15 and runs through Friday, Nov. 17. There are plenty of animals to choose from; more than 150 at the County’s three shelters. At last count, the shelter on Gaines Street in San Diego had 63, the one in Carlsbad had 56 and the Bonita location had 35.

Animal Services requires all dogs, cats and rabbits to be spayed or neutered before they are adopted out. But many times they may not have had the procedure done yet when people visit a shelter and choose them. That can mean waiting a few days before heading off to their new home.

If the pets have already been altered, they’re ready to go home the same day they are adopted. Those are the ones this special deal applies to. They also have their current vaccinations, a microchip and can get a free veterinary exam within the first 10 days of adoption.

If you want a sneak preview on which animals are available, visit County Animal Services adoption web page. Be sure to click on the photo of the animal that interests you to see if the animal has been altered. Then be the first in line Wednesday to get the pet of your choice. The shelters are open from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
