May 22, 2013 (Alpine) – The public is invited to honor fallen veterans on Monday, May 27 at the Alpine Community Center’s Wall of Honor, 1830 Alpine Boulevard from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Guests will also hear stories from veterans who put their lives on the line for our country, enjoy patriotic music, and a fly-over tribute by the Buecker Squadron in vintage WWII planes. A freeall-American meal of hot dogs and hamburgers.

A press release on the event states, “We want to say, `Thank you to our veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice of honor and love for our country.  Thank you to our community that has supported the creation of the Veterans Wall of Honor.’”

Appreciation is a powerful sentiment; it makes us stand up to honor those who have made a difference,” said Dan Foster, the Chairman of the Wall of Honor Committee.  “We know our fellow Americans who gave everything made a difference.   But, on this day, we also acknowledge this wonderful community that made the Veterans Wall of Honor possible. In appreciation for the fabulous support we have enjoyed from the community in building the Wall,” said Foster, “the food is on us on this special day."

You can also be one of the first to purchase Mission Honored – A Dream Achieved that has just been published. This is the first book of Veterans stories that are on the Alpine wall of Honor. The Wall, next to the Alpine Community Center on Alpine Blvd., currently has 442 tiles representing those who served from as far back as the Revolutionary war and those still serving today. Mission Honored – A Dream Achieved has 84 stories of Veteran’s service and experiences.
