June 25, 2017 (Alpine) – The Alpine Community Network (ACN) reports that on the morning of June 21st,  an Alpine resident found a large “fireworks” placed under a tree beneath a child’s window, where it could have caused major damage, injury or a fire.

Neighbors’ surveillance cameras reveal young men in a sedan got out and planted the lit firecracker intentionally, then sped off in the vehicle with other occupants. The residence is in the River Dance community across from Albertson’s off of Highlands View Road in Alpine. The resident told the ACN that he reported the incident to the Sheriff’s department but thus far the suspects have not been identified.

Other residents have posted on the forum about incidents that may be related.  Multiple residents reported that a similar looking sedan crossed a double yellow line and swerved toward them as though trying to frighten them.

Also,  ACN editor Angela Brookshire reports that yet another resident reported on June 22 that a smoke bomb or possibly fireworks had been thrown against the door of a home on Highlands View.  The object rolled off onto newly installed turf and burned an eight-inch round hole in it, the resident indicated.

Brookshire posted that she has asked the Sheriff for confirmation of the most recent incident and will report on her site when she receives more details.

If you have any information on these suspects, please contact the Alpine Sheriff substation or if you witness anyone using fireworks outside of an organized fireworks show, please call 911.  Fireworks are illegal for individuals to use in San Diego County due to fire danger and safety concerns.
