June 17, 2014 (La Mesa)—Jorge Alberto-Rocha Osuna, 26, is on life support with life-threatening injuries after a bizarre confrontation that began in the drive-in lane at McDonald’s, then ended in a vehicle intentionally striking the victim and pinning him against a building at a residence in the 3600 block of Avocado Village Court. Both locations are in unincorporated portions of La Mesa.

Darius Watkins-Risberg, 19, of Spring Valley has been arrested for assault with a deadly weapon in the hit and run attack on Osuna, a National City resident.

The victim’s vehicle was in the drive-through lane at McDonalds waiting for a food  order at 2:30 a.m. on June 16 when two vehicles pulled up behind.  A man exited one of the vehicles and began banging on the windows of the restaurant and on the windows of the victim’s vehicle.

Two men got out of the victim’s vehicle and confronted the man banging on their car.  An argument escalated into a fight. After it broke up, the men got back in their vehicle and drove to their residence, where the other two vehicles showed up, revving engines and squealing tires in the driveway.

According to Sheriff’s Homicide Lieutenant Glenn Giannantonio, “One of the vehicles drove at the victim, who was on foot in the complex driveway. The vehicle swerved at the victim but did not hit him. The second vehicle swerved at the victim and also missed him, but then backed up and struck the victim, pinning him up against the building. After the victim was struck, both vehicles fled the scene.”

The victim and the suspect did not know each other, he added, nor has a motive been disclosed.

The victim is on life support at Sharp Memorial Hospital.

The Sheriff's Homicide Detail, Crime Laboratory, and Rancho San Diego Sheriff's Station detectives are conducting the investigation, including reviewing surveillance video at the scene.

"We have identified everyone involved," said Lt. Giannantonio,  adding that the investigation will determine whether additional charges may be filed against other parties.
