June 15, 2016 (Del Cerro) – Eduardo Torres, 20, has been arrested and charged with holding two women hostage,  sexually assault, burglary and stabbing a 74-year-old woman to death Sunday night.

The Union-Tribune reports that Torres, who has a violent criminal history, is suspected of trying to break into other area homes the same evening before breaking a window to enter the home on Mill Peak Road.

San Diego Police officers called to the scene by a neighbor who heard the victims screaming for help.  After entering the home, officers heard the man shout that he was armed with a knife and gun and intended to kill the two female residents. Both had been stabbed.

The 74-year-old victim died of her injuries at a hospital.  The second victim, 50, from Chicago suffered non-life threatening injuries. A male resident locked outside by the intruder was unharmed.
