April 30, 2010 (Poway) – U.S. Secret Service Agents and San Diego Sheriff’s deputies found numerous counterfeit bills, computer, narcotics and stolen property in a search of a Poway home yesterday.  Some of the stolen property found has been linked to burglaries of homes and cars in San Diego County.  Mina Thamracksa and Thanh Nguyen were arrested and their infant son was taken into protective custody.

Thamracksa, a parolee, entered a Target Store in Rancho San Diego on March 30th knowingly in possession of numerous counterfeit bills, according to the Sheriff’s office. Thamracksa used the bills to make two separate purchases. During the second transaction, store loss prevention agents became suspicious and recorded Thamracksa's activities. They discovered the bills used by Thamracksa were counterfeit and notified the Sheriff's Department. Thamracksa was positively identified as the counterfeiting suspect.

Yesterday, Sheriff's Detectives and Agents of the United States Secret Service contacted and arrested Thamracksa at her Poway home. During a search of the home, detectives contacted Thamracksa’s boyfriend, Thanh Nguyen. He was found to be a documented Asian gang member who was recently released from county jail after earlier posting bond.

Authorities found the couple's one-year-old child to be at risk of methamphetamine exposure.  The child will be medically evaluated and cared for at the Polinsky Center for Children.

The investigation is continuing.
