June 15, 2017 (Lakeside) - The Barona Cultural Center & Museum invites kids in grades K-2 and their parents to listen to the book Way Out in the Desert and take an exciting musical tour of the Sonoran Desert as part of the latest Keyip! Kechuw! (Listen! Make!) Native American themed story time and craft event on Saturday, June 24 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.  Keyip! Kechuw! is a free monthly program designed to inspire young children to read, have fun learning, and get creative. The events are held at the Lakeside Library located at 9839 Vine Street.

This month, Jennifer Ward and T. J. Marsh’s story will take listeners on an explorative journey Way Out in the Desert of Sonora to learn about native animals and plants such as horned toads, javelinas, roadrunners, Gila monsters, ocotillos, saguaros, and more. After story time, the students will make their very own beaded lizard keychain (hakwaal) to take home.

Keyip! Kechuw! is open to the public and attendance is free and snacks and drinks will be provided. A parent/adult chaperone is required for all child attendees. There will be a monthly raffle drawing plus a perfect attendance prize for those who participate in the entire Keyip! Kechuw! series.
