August 8, 2014 (San Diego)--Need a car, boat, or other vehicle? Bidding for the County’s latest online public vehicle auction is now  open, so you can check out what’s available before these steals on wheels are going, going, gone.

Hundreds of surplus vehicles, including automobiles and heavy equipment, and surplus government property from the County and other local agencies are going on the auction block with many bids starting at $100.

Vehicles range from a Honda Civic and Toyota Prius hybrid to Explorers and Expeditions for traversing those backcountry roads. There are also pickup trucks and cargo vans, a utility quad hauler, a tractor mower, boat trailer and a boat. There are even used school buses and ambulances on the auction block – and a lot more!

If you’d like to check out the vehicles in person and kick the tires, they’ll be on display Monday August 11 from 8 a.m. to noon in Ramona at  369 Main St. You can register to bid for the auction online but bidding ends at noon on Monday August 11.

Buyer Beware!

Never buy a vehicle from this sale unless you really know what you are doing. If you don't have the most knowledge possible about mechanical things and what could be wrong with a car or truck and the repair costs just stay away. I worked at the City/County auctions and people got into a bidding frenzy and paid way too much over the real value. Cars and trucks that had no visible body damage (Bondo) were sold at high prices but I had seen the repair records. There were major engine and transmission problems. The odometer may show 50,000 miles but it is really 150,000 or 250,000.
