June 6, 2012 (San Diego) -- If you use a gasoline fueled mower, remember that gasoline gives off flammable vapors which can cause a searing fire or a violent explosion - - it takes only a small spark or flame to bring about such a disaster.
CAL FIRE offers these tips: do refueling outdoors; never smoke while refueling; wipe up all fuel spills before starting mower; store all gasoline in approved metal containers; and keep all fuels out of the reach of children. Remember to mow only in the early morning hours, if it's too hot for you it is too hot to be mowing. Be fire safe, not sorry!
