February 22, 2012 (Lakeside)--Once a month, on the corner of Los Coches and Olde Highway 80 in Lakeside,  you will find a charity event happening at the 7/11 mini market.

Renee M. Aon, Franchisee of the 7/11 market and partner Mike Venancio and host Rich Riel (All Around Mobil Music@yahoo.com) sponsor these events to benefit not only the local schools ( Lakeview Elementary in Lakeside Ca.) but also for organizations in San Diego like  Rady's Children's Hospital and RAD ( Racers Against Drugs ) CHP's Widows and Orphans Fundraiser.

"I purchased the store December 21, 2011,” said Renee Aon. My goal is to utilize the store as a venue to encourage community relations and give back any way I can. I am passionate about being a business entrepreneur that demonstrates how I truly care through coordinating various events of different nature to allow families the opportunity to enjoy a local outing. I look forward to doing what I can on a daily basis for schools, charities and local businesses."

She and co-partner Mike Venancio collaborate with  Rich Riel known as  “Dr. DJ and his Joom Box of San Diego”, who plays oldies music.  Together they host "Cars for a Cause" events to benefit the local communities.

This past weekend, the Cars for a Cause event was held for the California Highway Patrol's "Widows and Orphans Fundraiser". Even though rain was in the forecast, 35 members of the East County Cruisers Car Club showed up and purchased an entry fee. A donation box was also available for anyone in the public wishing to contribute.

Aon told me that, even though the weather kept some folks from showing up, “Anytime we can hold an event it is always a success.” She is already planning for the next event at her 7/11 location to benefit the Barona Speedway in Lakeside.

It's great to see Renee and her friends giving back to the communities that support the success of her business and raise awareness to the needs of our communities.

The events do not have a set day of the month as of yet  but are always held on Sundays.
