CELEBRATE EARTH DAY IN STATE PARKS

March 9, 2019 (San Diego’s East County) – On Saturday, April 13, Californians will come together to make a difference in state parks across California for the State Park Service’s annual Earth Day celebration. You’re invited to participate in special volunteer projects focused on climate resiliency, or join in a new family-friendly open house.

Locally, Cuyamaca Rancho State Park in East County needs help clearing overgrown trails, painting park structure and  staining picnic tables. Palomar Mountain State Park needs help clearing brush to reduce wildfire risks and maintaining a historic orchard.

 

The nearest open house is at a Native Plant Garden in Old Town. Open houses feature music, arts, crafts and guided park explorations.
