October 5, 2016 (San Diego) - The San Diego Chargers announced Wednesday that they have re-signed cornerback Steve Williams. To make room for Williams on the roster, the Chargers waived nose tackle Ryan Carrethers.

A fifth-round pick of the Chargers in 2013, Williams joins the Chargers after being released in the team’s final roster cuts at the conclusion of the preseason. He briefly signed with the Los Angeles Rams after being released by the Chargers and was de-activated for the Rams' games in Weeks 2 and 3. With the Chargers, Williams spent his rookie season in 2013 on “Reserve-Injured” with a torn pectoral muscle, but he returned to play in 26 games with two starts over the 2014-15 seasons, totaling two interceptions to go along with 28 tackles and a sack.

Williams will wear No. 41.
