May 17, 2016 (San Diego) - Zach Mettenberger was released by the Tennessee Titans two days ago.  Always in need of a backup quarterback, the Chargers pounced on the opportunity with their second priority waiver claim.

Mettenberger has a Chargers connection:  Bolts offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt was the former OC for the Titans and drafted him in 2014.

Mettenberger has only been in the league two seasons and has had 10 starts.  He's thrown for 2,347 yards with 12 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.
