Local in-home care provider comes up with new
ways to save on prescription drugs
 for seniors and their pets.

November 24, 2011(El Cajon, CA) -- Nearly half of all Americans regularly take one prescription medication, according to an August 2011 survey conducted by Consumer Reports National Research Center.

This number rises as individuals enter their senior years. The number of consumers taking prescription drugs jumps to 70 percent for those ages 55 and over, and 77 percent for those ages 65 and over.

With prescription medication comes expensive out-of-pocket costs for consumers. In fact, the average consumer taking prescription drugs pays $59 per month. Twelve percent of Americans spend $100 or more. In an effort to help their clients and community save on rising prescription drug costs, in-home care provider ComForcare Senior Services of El Cajon is now offering a discount card program that will help consumers save up to 65 percent off prescriptions.

“We’re offering the prescription discount card program to clients and community members to show that we care and understand how stressful rising medication costs can be, especially in these tough economic times,” says Dean Natwick owner of ComForcare in El Cajon. “Our goal is to offer a little relief.”

The ComForcare Prescription Drug Discount Program includes a free discount card that helps users save up to 65 percent off branded or generic prescriptions through a nationwide network of 56,000 participating pharmacies. Everyone is eligible under the card – even pets – and it benefits those who are both insured and uninsured. The discount is applied directly to the prescription price. It is not combined with insurance, but is rather a secondary discount card.

To get started, users simply present the card to their pharmacist with their insurance card and the pharmacist will provide the best price option between the two. For more information, visit www.ComForcarePrescriptions.com.
