October 14, 2016 (Jamul) - A GoFundMe site setup yesterday to help a Jamul woman whose three dogs were bitten by a rattlesnake has raised over $7,000.  She is a single mother who can’t afford the costly care needed to save her dogs’ lives.

On Tuesday, Hillary Dixon found her dogs barking at a rattlesnake that left one dog in critical condition and all three in need of anti-venom.

Dixon told 10 news that she killed the snake, then sought emergency care for her dogs.   Nicky, the oldest, is in the worst shape and needs a blood transfusion.  Sassy was bitten near her eye and may lose her vision.  Honey was bitten on the nose and has a swollen face.

“I feel I am dying inside. Part of my soul is dying,” Dixon said. “I’m trying everything to save him,” she said of Nicky, who has been listless may need hospitalization.

Dixon also wants to warn others to be watchful for snakes, particularly as Halloween approaches and children will be out and about.
