NATIONAL NIGHT OUT AGAINST CRIME AUG. 2 AT KROC CENTER

July 21, 2011 (San Diego) – The 28th annual National Night Out Against Crime will be celebrated Tueday, August 2 from 6-8 p.m. at the Salvation Army Kroc Center recreation field, 6845 University Ave. The community is invited to this free event, which includes live entertainment, an interactive self-defense demonstration, visits with local police and SWAT officers, free snacks, giveaways, games, fingerprinting, community booths and more.

 

The event aims to heighten awareness of crime and drug prevention, generate support for and participation in local anti-crime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police partnerships, and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

 

Participants include San Diego County Crimestoppers, San Diego Police Department, San Diego Sheriff’s Department, Drug Enforcement Agency, San Diego Police Historical Foundation, STAR/PAL, Rolando Park Community Council, Target, Salvation Army Kroc Center, KPBS, San Diego Youth Symphony and Conservatory, Play it Safe, and more.
