EARLY MORNING FIRE DAMAGES GARAGE IN LEMON GROVE

November 30, 2010 (Lemon Grove) – A fire reported shortly after 4 a.m. in the 2000 block of Massachusetts Avenue in Lemon Grove caused an estimated $100,000 in damage to a garage and its contents. . After attempting to douse the blaze with a fire extinguisher, the resident alerted other family members, who evacuated safely.

 

Heartland Fire responded to the resident's report of heavy fire and smoke. Aggressive actions by fire crews allowed the fire to be stopped from advancing to the home. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Three adults, one child, and one dog were displaced due to disruption in service of Gas & Electricity to the home.

 

The family is being assisted by Red Cross. Heartland Fire & Rescue crews from Lemon Grove and La Mesa were assisted by firefighters from San Miguel Fire Protection. No firefighters or civilians were injured.
