May 22, 2023 (Lakeside) - El Capitan girls lacrosse defeated San Ysidro 6-2 to win the CIF Division III title. Junior goalie Amaya Tone had 12 saves.
“At the start of the season she would throw her body at the ball before the stick,” said coach Danielle Viviani. “But now she’s got her stick skills up. She made so many saves just because she’s willing to get in the space.”
Trinity Schelin scored two goals. Freshman defender Emma Carranza held San Ysidro's Genesis Cota Luna scoreless.
