June 29, 2011 (San Diego Union-Tribune)-- EL CAJON — El Cajon City Manager Kathi Henry has decided to retire after leading the East County's largest city for seven years. The 52-year-old Henry, who has worked in the city manager's department for 30 years, is leaving "because it's time to do something else," she said.

July 5, 2011 (10 News)-- DUI checkpoints are making too much money and not doing enough to stop drunken driving, according to some state lawmakers. Those state lawmakers pushed legislation -- bills AB-1389 and AB-353 -- that aims to curb the millions of dollars that are made off the cars that are impounded at DUI checkpoints.
AMAZON CUTS TIES WITH CALIF. AFFILIATES TO AVOID TAX
July 1, 2011 (NPR)--Under a new law signed by Calif. Gov. Jerry Brown, online retailers like Amazon are supposed to start collecting sales taxes, even when they're based outside the state. Amazon says the new law is unconstitutional, and it won't collect the tax. One way the company is trying to avoid it, is by severing ties with about 10,000 small businesses and individual blogs based in the state which link to Amazon.com through their websites.
