September 15, 2023 (San Diego) -  We’ve got another matchup for week five before our two-week break and it’s a divinely good one from Cathedral Catholic High School, where the undefeated HIghlanders of Helix went up to do battle with the Dons at Manchester Stadium on the campus of Cathedral Catholic.

The Dons attacked with the running game out of the gate and senior quarterback Jack Stevens punched it in at the one.  Senior kicker Joshua Hossman-Lees put the Scotties on the board with a field goal at the end of the quarter and Cathedral led 7-3 after one.

The Scotties weren’t about to let their undefeated record be sullied to a 1-3 team.  They ate up five minutes in the second with a March downfield that ended in quarterback (and Utah State commit…sorry Aztec nation) Ryland Jesse’s two-yard pass to wideout Jackson Daniels.  The senior-to-senior connection put Helix on top until the end of the half when Stevens struck a  touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Charlie Abts and Cathedral led 14-10 at the half.

The Dons’ defense halted the Scotties’ quick downfield press to open the second half, but Hossman-Lees earned his second field goal of the night and Helix was within one.  Kevin Allen did the rest of the job.  The senior back burst through a mob of red and yellow for 25 yards and another go-ahead Highlander touchdown.  But Ethan Ford saw Allen’s 25 yards and raised him 19 more.  The senior running back for the Dons sprinted 44 yards downfield and Stevens punched it in at the one with 30 seconds left in the quarter and Cathedral was up by one again, 21-20, after three.

The Dawgs weren’t going away.  Allen kicked off the third with his second touchdown of the game.  The two-point conversion was good.  Four minutes later, Allen shaked n baked for his hat trick touchdown to put the Highlanders up by two scores for the first time all night and ladies and gentlemen, Helix stays undefeated with a perfect 5-0 record as they take down the Dons 35-21.
