U.S. general killed, 14 wounded in Afghan academy attack: officials (Reuters)

 An Afghan soldier killed a U.S. general and wounded 14 coalition troops in a machine gun attack at a military training facility in Kabul, a top Western and senior Afghan official said on Tuesday

Colorado officials propose tightening  of rules for marijuana edibles (RawStory)

A Colorado task force charged with tightening controls on marijuana edibles unveiled proposed rules on Friday to limit potency levels, require clearer labeling and assure that children cannot get their hands on pot-infused confections. Under the guidelines released by the Colorado Department of Revenue, serving sizes of edible pot products would be restricted to 10 mg of THC, the psychoactive component in marijuana, down from 100 mg.

As far as Hamas is concerned, any peace deal would have to life the economic blockade that has largely cut off Gaza and its people from the rest of the world. CBS News correspondent Barry Petersen spoke to people there. When people returned to neighborhoods today where Israelis said their offensive is done, most found little to save from war's destruction. Israel cut off cement during its eight year blockade, saying it was being used not to build a better life but Hamas tunnels to attack Israel.

French police arrest Islamist militant at a Paris airport (Reuters)
