ELDERLY WOMAN ROBBED OF PURSE AT GROSSMONT CENTER

February 13, 2012 (La Mesa)  -- A purse-snatching prompted at Grossmont Center prompted an intensive but unsuccessful search for a suspect on Saturday night, February 11.  The suspect approached a 71-year-old woman from behind as she was walking with her husband through the parking lot near BJ’s Restaurant shortly before 8 p.m., then grabbed her purse from her shoulder and ran off toward Grossmont Hospital.   

 

The suspect is described as a white male in his mid 30’s, approximately 5’8”, 160 lbs., with “dirty” blonde hair, wearing a dark colored jacket, red t-shirt, and dark baggy pants.

 
The woman complained of minor pain to her back but declined medical attention at the scene. 

Officers searched the surrounding areas with assistance from San Diego Sheriff Department’s ASTREA and K-9 but were unable to locate the suspect. 

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the La Mesa Police Department.
