Tee off for a good cause at a Pro-Am Golf Tournament at Sycuan Resort’s Willow Glen Course this Friday. Proceeds benefit Home of the Guiding Hands, which provides shelter and services for mentally disabled people.  HGH has a huge funding gap due to the California budget crisis.

Speaking of driving, take a blast to the past by joining a cruise along one of our most famous back roads in Saturday’s “Passport through Time: History Highway 80 Road Trip” from San Diego to Alpine.  Other fun-filled events include the Campo Harvest Festival and Parade, Ramona Oktoberfest, La Mesa’s Sidewalk Art Show, Grossmont Symphony Orchestra Concert, and La Mesa Beautiful Awards.

Attend a green jobs fair and hear Lieutenant John Garamendi and experts on sustainable energy at “Future San Diego: Green Economy,” a UCSD conference organized by ECM’s publisher, the nonprofit Heartland Coalition. You can also learn about the pros and cons of ballot proposition, meet candidates for local offices or check out upcoming debates sponsored by nonpartisan organizations and media outlets in our community.

Find details on all of these events and more at our calendar of events.
