March 29, 2015 (San Diego)--Connecting with Nature is the theme of the 2015 Explore Mission Trails Day at Mission Trails Regional Park on  Saturday, May 16th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. This popular event features free guided nature walks, talks and programs throughout the park, including live animals and special programs for children from pony rides to a climbing wall.

The San Diego Natural History Museum and Scholastic Publishing’s Ms. Frizzle™ and The Magic Schoolbus© will present a special program for children in the amphitheater at the Visitor and Interpretive Center.  This year’s program will feature coyotes.

There will also be free pony rides (9 a.m. to 1 p.m.), a climbing wall, crafts for children, and many Discovery Stations at the East Fortuna Staging Area. The San Diego Mountain Bike Association is returning with a demonstration of bicycle skills. Check out this link for their video from last year's event.

The Lake Murray and Santee Kiwanis Clubs will serve hamburgers, veggie burgers, hotdogs and refreshments at the Mission Trails Visitor Center and East Fortuna Staging Area respectively.

Explore Mission Trails Day is presented by the City of San Diego Park and Recreation Department, Mission Trails Regional Park Foundation, and San Diego City Councilmember Scott Sherman.
