October 15, 2013 (El Cajon) – The Sheriff’s Bomb Arson squad has been dispatched to 1518 Sams Hill Road in unincorporated El Cajon following a report at 7:13 p.m. of explosions and a smell of sulfur.

“The reporting party heard loud booms coming from the roof of an apartment complex,” Lieutenant Jason Vickery told East County Magazine.

Incident Page Network reported that a soda bomb exploded and three other devices have been identified.

Lt. Vickery stated, “Kids possibly were on the roof throwing ice bombs.” He added that  the term soda bombs typically refers to dry ice in tubular bottles mixed with water or ice. “Throw it and it explodes,” he said.

Vickery did not know if there has been any damage from the explosive devices.

Parents should be made aware that “igniting any kind of explosive devices is a felony,” he added.
